Globalization has reached Polish universities and English speaking programs for foreign students are well established curricula nowadays. A ray of questions arise, though: How can foreign students get integrated in the academic life? How can they be motivated to join extra curriculum classes, competitions and scientific conferences? How can they be better understood with their different approaches towards learning, examining the patients and treatement of diseases? These were just couple of questions the academic teachers of Silesian Medical University discussed in the world cafe facilitated by me as a part of our intercultural program. Communication across cultures in the medical context requires even more sensitivity as in all other fields. How, for instance, should the academic teacher mediate between the foreign medicine student and a Polish patient who refuses to be checked by the young doctor in spe?
